Gigi's Polka Dot Room

I've had Gigi's room done for months now and I'm finally getting around to posting the pics for you. I decorated her nursery with pink and tiffany blue so I wanted to do something a little different to transition her to a big girl room. Gigi loves pink, so we kept pink in her room and added in grey and gold. Paint color is Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore (btw, I'm in love with this color).

The gold polka dots are made out of contact paper that I cut into circles using this circle cutter. This is a great alternative to wallpaper since it's not permanent (I know since I had to re-position a few of them). I decided to cover about 1 1/2 walls so the room wouldn't be overwhelmed with polka dots.
Husband made the bed out of 3 pallets screwed together and then we added wheels to the bottom. The pallets make the perfect size toddler bed! I did a little pattern mixing with her duvet cover and sheet set. The pink sham adds in a little texture and the tweed and gold pillow is from Target.
I made the polka dot art above her bed by cutting out circles from silver and gold scrapbook paper. I love how it mimics the larger polka dots on the wall. And the letters to spell her name were found at various thrift stores.  I mod-podged the large "G" and spray painted the others white to match her room.
And a view to the other side of the room. The dachshund night light is the same one we used in her nursery and I just love it!
The butterfly print is from IKEA and so is the shelving unit underneath it. The polka dot toy bins just add to the polka dot theme I kinda have going on in the room. :) The flower light is from IKEA and the rug is the same one we used in her nursery.
The shelving unit holds whatever toy Gigi is into playing with at the moment. Right now it's her princess doll house that I thrifted when we lived in Portland.
And a view to the other side of the room. I made the roman shades by following this tutorial. They were a little harder to make than Liam's curtains but I'm happy with how they turned out. And they are blackout shades which come in handy during the summer.
I kept her dresser pink which was nice since I didn't have to re-paint it. I also kept her "Breakfast at Tiffany's" print since it's one of my faves.
Her little handprint and footprint that we did when she was a baby.
I also thrifted her desk, which holds art supplies and coloring books. This girl just loves to paint!
And a close-up of the gallery wall. I thrifted the butterflies which I then spray painted gold of course!
The shelves are from IKEA and most of the stuff on them I found at various vintage stores. I painted the gold heart and framed some vintage skeleton keys.
Husband and I made the little framed heart using our thumbprints (which we also did in Liam's nursery).
I got the chalkboard print here and the gold rhino is from Target.
So that's it! I hope you enjoyed the tour ;)
Thanks for letting me share Gigi's room with you!

Joy to the World

Hello! I wanted to share with you my home all decorated for Christmas and a little project I did. For a few years now I've wanted to make some marquee letters, I've just never had anywhere to put them. So now that our first home has a mantel and fireplace I finally decided to go for it! I followed this tutorial and it was pretty easy. The hard part was finding the time to do it. :)

I also added pre-lit garland and some pine trees on either end.

And these cute little mason jar snow globes!

And here's our tree. I decided to go with silver, gold and white since I wanted a neutral look this year.

I made the ruffled garland by sewing two strands of crepe paper together. It was super easy and you can find tons of tutorials on YouTube.

Another little vignette of trees and reindeers. I made the trees out of old music sheets a few years back.

I just love how the letters light up the room and bring JOY to our home!

How did you decorate for Christmas? What colors did you use in your space??

Sale Picks

Anthropologie had another round of markdowns this morning. I feel like some of the prices weren't marked as low as usual, does this mean they are gearing up for an extra % off soon?? We  can only hope. :) Here are my picks...

I have this cardigan and love it. The color is very rich, it's incredibly soft and I love the longer length.

This sweater looks so cozy and would be great with some leggings and boots.

Another cute little tunic. If I didn't already own the Mitzie Tunic I would be considering this one.

I'm thinking of calling around to find this but I've never tried it on so I'll have to think about it. Did you pick up anything from this round of markdowns?

Mitzie Take Two

I wore this outfit on Thanksgiving to see the movie Frozen (which I loved!) and then we went out to eat for our Thanksgiving dinner. I decided to add a pop of color with this fun necklace. I'm really loving tunics this season, they're so easy to wear for a mom of two little ones. :)

I think it's officially time to get out the snow shovel. I woke up to a lot of snow this morning! Good thing I have this cozy cardigan to keep me warm. :) Here's a pic of an outfit that I wore over the weekend...

Peppered Polka Dots

It's no secret that I love polka dots. In fact, this skirt is one of my all time favorite skirts from Anthropologie. In my book, you can never go wrong with polka dots. :) Here's how I wore it to church on Sunday...

Black Friday at Anthro

I didn't do a ton of Black Friday shopping, but I did visit my local Anthropologie store. My store opened at 8am and I got there about an hour later (kids life got in the way!). All in all, I was a little disappointed. First of all, Anthropologie didn't mark things down as much as they usually do. So with the extra 20% off I pretty much got the regular ole' sale price. Oh well, at least I got these cute shoes that I've been wanting forever! And they're still available in a few sizes. :)

I also picked up this, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I need to style it and see if it works with other items in my closet. Does anyone have it, or have you tried it on??

And then there were the poppers. I was hoping for a nice little prize when I opened mine, but all that came out was this...

Oh well. I was happy to finally get the Evelina Heels but they are getting wrapped up and put under the Christmas tree; so I have to wait until Christmas to wear them. Did you visit Anthropologie on Black Friday? What did you think??
