OOTD: Deco For A Decorator

Temperatures are finally coming down into the 80s, so here's hoping it will feel like Fall soon. And since tomorrow is October I'll be decorating my house for Halloween this weekend! I'm going to copy my sister and Jan and share pics of my apartment all decked out for the occasion. I'll have pics posted for you next week. I just love this time of year!

Sally Wheat Interiors

Recently I came across the talented interior designer, Sally Wheat. I love her modern and eclectic taste and how she transforms a room with pops of color. But each room still maintains a soft, cozy and lived-in feel. She puts things together that I would never think of, which is so inspiring! Take a look for yourself...

OOTD: I Want To Wear My Bicycle

Another HOT day here (yesterday it got up to 112!) so a dress was the only option for me and I'm hoping it will help me stay cool. I had plans to wear this dress with my new boots and a cardigan but alas that will have to wait until Fall. Wait a second, it is Fall! You would never think so with these climbing temperatures outside.

OOTD: All About Stripes

Happy Monday readers! If you remember, I was having a hard time deciding between which cardigan to keep in this post. Well, I decided to go against the vast majority of you and keep the blue one. I think the colors look better with my skin tone and they will go with more things in my closet. Here is what I wore to church yesterday.

Beauty Product Picks

I am a product junkie. I've tried a lot of products in my life and I've had more misses than hits. I wanted to share with you readers what has worked for me to hopefully save you time and money. And lately I've been buying them online since it is so much cheaper and so much easier.

BOSCIA ROSE BLOTTING LINEN SHEETS
I was cursed with oily skin so these little guys are always in my purse and makeup bag. And I love how refreshing the rose scent feels on my skin! Get them here.

TWEEZERMAN MINI SLANT TWEEZERS
I can't live without my tweezers and how cute are these with polka dots! Tweezerman makes the best tweezers, they really get every. little. hair. Get them here.

COVERGIRL LASHBLAST MASCARA
This is the best mascara I've ever used. And trust me, I've used all of the department store stuff (Dior, Lancome, Chanel, Clinique - just to name a few). And it comes with a much smaller price tag. Get it here.

DHC DEEP CLEANSING OIL
Cleansing your skin thoroughly is probably the most important step of good skin care. Since I wear mascara and other eye makeup daily, I need a good cleanser to get it off. It doesn't take your eyelashes off with your mascara clumps either. And no makeup residue, I'm sold! Get it here.

SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLER
I've had this eyelash curler for over 5 years now and it is still going strong. The little black curler is made of silicone so it won't split into two and it does a perfect job of curling your eyelashes. Get it here.

OSCAR BLANDI PRONTO DRY SHAMPOO
I only wash my hair about three times a week. In between washings this dry shampoo really does the job of "washing" my hair! It absorbs oil and excess product gunk while leaving a fresh, clean scent behind. Just separate your hair into sections, squeeze this onto your scalp, rub vigorously and your done. Get it here.

OOTD: In The Navy Polka Dots

Even though I am so ready for Fall, the weather here is not. It is supposed to climb back up to the high 80s and even high 90s this weekend! So just when I was ready to pack up my summer capris, dresses and sandals I find myself wearing them *hopefully* for the last time this year. And I just picked up these lovely boots but sadly they'll have to wait to make their appearance.

Pillow Talk

For the longest time I have been wanting to replace the pillows on my couches in the family room. But I've been putting it off since it is so expensive. I finally decided to try my hand at making my own. I have quilted before so I'm not entirely brand new to sewing, but it was years ago. I've found numerous tutorials on how to sew throw pillows and it doesn't seem too hard, so hopefully I can pull it off!

Here are my top picks for my fabric choices right now. I definitely know I want to mix prints but I'm having a hard time narrowing them down. Let me know which prints you like best together and which are your favorites!

Family Photo: Black, White & Yellow

I wanted to share the most recent family pic with my readers since I blogged about what I was going to wear in this post. I love how it turned out! I think the yellow really popped against the green backdrop.

If you ever need ideas for what to wear in a large group photo I would suggest black and white with any pop of color. My family has done it two years in a row now (the first year it was with blue) and both times it has looked really good. It's a super easy color combo to coordinate with large numbers of people, my whole extended family includes over 20 people and this color combo just works.

OOTD: Free Flowing in Neutral

I decided to keep it simple today and just wear neutrals. I'm super glad I got the Free Flow tank from Anthropologie since it has proven to go with almost everything in my closet. And even though I wear ballet flats on a daily basis (if you have kids you understand, right?!), I can wear these Pink Studio heels since the heel is cone shaped and isn't too high. You can still get them on sale here.
