OOTD: Cardigans Are A Sister's Best Friend

I just picked up this cardi (and so did all my sisters!) at the Anne Taylor outlet. We all loved the price (~$30), the flattering fit and the fact that it looks like something you'd find at JCrew. So we all couldn't pass it up!

OOTD: Apples & Airplanes

First off my trip to H&M was a .... FAILURE! I went in with good intentions and just about made it to the cash register when a little skirt caught my eye. So of course I had to try in on and loved it! My return was for $20 and the skirt was $30 so I guess it could have been worse. Here's what I got (I also picked one up for my sister) and it totally reminds me of the Alena Skirt from Anthropololgie that I missed out on. I'll be wearing it on Sunday so stay tuned to see how I style it.

Well, on to my outfit for today. I'm keeping it simple with just a tee and capris. I love yellow and grey together so pairing these flats with this top was an easy choice. And I decided to throw in a little pink with the apple necklace I scored on Shopbop a few years ago for $15.

Sarah's House - The Entry & Mudroom

By now you know I love Sarah's house on HGTV. Let's take a look at her mudroom and entry. I know everyone loves a good before and after so take a look at what the space looked used to look like.
Before:

After: What a difference a raised ceiling makes!

I love this little powder room. She took an antique table and place an under-mount sink on it and painted the outside of the sink blue. Genious! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the wallpaper.

This used to be a metal ball that she retro-fitted to become a light fixture. The shadows it casts in the room are just beautiful! And again, would look better without the wallpaper.

Stay tuned next week, we'll take a look at the main bathroom!

OOTD: I'm A Map

I have to take Gigi to her monthly doctor appointment today. I also need to stop by H&M to return something and hopefully nothing catches my eye. It's risky business going into a store for a return because I always have the mindset that I can buy something as long as I get any money back. So this time the plan is to walk straight to the register and straight out, wish me luck!

OOTD: Black & White

Today I have a few errands to run including a much needed trip to the grocery store. So it's a flats day for me, as most days are. I can't believe how much I have worn these sandals. They are so cute, extremely well made, and go with everything. They are still on sale at Nordstrom for around $50 but they only have the black ones, which are just as cute if you ask me.

This dress is an oldie but goodie. I love the feminine tulip print and all the bright colors against the black. I thought I'd keep it simple and style it with just a belt and gladiator wedges.

Sarah's House - The Kids Bedrooms

I am obsessed with HGTV's Sarah's House and have taken to recording every single episode. Let's take a look at the kids bedrooms shall we. Sarah and her "design sidekick" Tommy, take on renovating these and Sarah decides that it would be best for them to do one room each, she takes on the girls and Tommy designs the boys. The idea was to work independently but they each had a little help from each other. In my mind, the boys room was the clear winner.

{the GIRLS room}

The headboard fabric was Sarah's inspiration for this room. I love the color scheme but I think that a lighter paint color would have brightened up the space.

{the BOYS room}

Love the barn board ceiling! And the moulding and two tone paint really take the room from a square box to an architecturally interesting space. The fern fabric used for the drapes was Tommy's jumping off point.

Stay tuned next week, we'll take a look at the entry and mudroom!

Sarah's House - The Kitchen

Lately I've been obsessed with watching Sarah's House on HGTV. Unlike other design shows, it documents the whole design process with the good, the bad and and the frustrations along the way. This past season she renovated a century-old farmhouse some three hours outside of Toronto. Sarah gutted the entire house and added an edition that doubled the size.

She almost always designs an entire room around one fabric that inspires her. She also uses white as a backdrop to mix and match many patterns in one room.

I love all of the modern elements mixed with vintage touches. Here she used a vintage mercury glass pendant light above the sink and vintage yellow brackets to create a perfect display shelf.

The cabinets are from Ikea, custom spray-lacquered and doubled up to reach the ceiling.

There is this cute little seating area at the end of the island. I adore that old lunch sign.

How cute are these numbered steps!

Stay tuned next week, we'll take a look at the kids bedrooms!
