Italia

Since I've been busy with my parents in town, I thought it would be fun to share some pics of me and my husband when we visited Italy in June 2009. We went for my 30th birthday and our 5 year anniversary (it was the best gift ever, thanks husband!). We went with some of his family since they lived there growing up when his dad was in the Air Force. We visited Venice, Caldogna (where they lived), Florence and Sienna. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of my time there. Here are some of the highlights...

We just arrived after a very LONG flight and train ride and snapped our first pic in front of the canals in Venice.

The next day in Venice, on the vaporetto (water taxi) and exploring the town.

One of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Next, we went by train to Caldongno, where husband and his family used to live. Here they are in front of their old house.

Husband in front of his old school which is run by nuns. And yes, he did learn Italian when he went there, not that he remembers any of it now!

Then we went by train to Florence. It only rained for about twenty minutes and it made everything so beautiful, if you could get over the stench of sewage!

One of my favorite shots of Florence.

On top of the duomo in Florence. I highly recommend climbing to the top of this, the view is breathtaking!

Mmmmm, gelato! One of my goals while in Italy was to have gelato two (if not three, four, or five) times a day. I'm happy to say I accomplished it!

Armed with our trusty map my husband and I rented a car and drove to Sienna for a day. We got lost several times along the way but managed to make it there unscathed! And what could be better than getting lost in Tuscany?

I did some research and found out there was an outlet mall so we had to stop by on the way and do some shopping of course!

In front of the town center in Sienna, where the first scene of Casino Royale is filmed. Husband had to see it.

Have any of you been to Italy? What was your favorite part? For me it was seeing the statue of David. The trip over alone was worth it. Words cannot express how in awe I was looking at it. Now I just need to go back and explore Rome (and pretty much every other part of Italy)!

Italy is the ONE place I must go before I die (or sooner...). I have dreams of it.

Have you ever seen the movie "Dangerous Beauty?" I fell in love.

What an amazing trip. I love Italy! I backpacked through Europe for two months in my early twenties and spent about 2 weeks in Italy. I love that country. I dream about going back with my husband. It's such a romantic place to be with the one you love. What I really love about it is all the history. Thanks for sharing your trip. Your outfits are fantastic.

Loved seeing the pics of your trip! That red necklace is awesome! I have not been to Italy but would love it. Sometimes you remind me of me - I think it's the brown hair and brown eyes. Maybe I will give a try at side bangs - yours look so great!

Gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing! I loooove Italy. DH and I went a few years ago to Tuscany and Rome for 2 weeks and it was my favorite trip ever. We stayed in a villa for a week near San Gimignano and drove all over Tuscany. Then we spent a week in Rome, which I loved. Every minute was beyond wonderful. We can't wait to go back!

You guys are SOO cute! Italy is my favorite country and Venice and Florence are by far my favorite cities! The food, the gelato, the history!
I loved seeing David - the sheer majesty! The Sistine Chapel is breathtaking as well. Michael Angelo is undeniably a genius!
I loved walking around Venice at night and seeing amazing frescoes on the ceilings in various homes (the people leave the lights on so passers by can see the beauty).
The brushetta in Florence was to die for!
I can go on and on. I just love Italy and can't wait to go back!

Yes, I went to Venice in college. And my favorite part wasn't the sexy men, the beautiful language, the wonderful Italian pasta, it was the gelato!!!
